About Kicking Horse

Formerly a heli-ski operation, the authentic small town atmosphere of Kicking Horse, the 1,260 m (4,134 ft) of awesome vertical and fabulous snowmobile and snowshoeing trails has helped this resort become recognised as the “Best Small Resort” by Good Ski and Snowboard Guide (UK).

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is located just outside of Golden, BC, in the Kootenay Rockies. It offers skiers and boarders some of the finest champagne powder snow. It has the second highest vertical in Canada. The ski terrain includes three alpine bowls, a mix of chutes, glades and steep terrain, beautiful long groomers and gentle slopes for less experienced skiers and snowboarders. Cross country skiers are also well catered for with 14 km (8.7 mi) of classic track set trails.

The resort is well known for its super dry champagne powder snow and has an average snowfall of 700 cm (23 ft) at the peak per year.

Skiers and non skiers will both enjoy the experience of dining at the award winning Eagle Eye Restaurant. Situated at 2,347 m (7,700 ft) high the Eagle Eye restaurant is Canada’s highest restaurant.

Intermediate skiers and boarders have not been ignored when the runs were carved out. Intermediate runs can be found all over the mountain and are easily accessed by any lift.
