Merrijig is a small picturesque town
located in the great Dividing Range between Mansfield
(19 kms) and Mount Buller ski resort (28 kms). Merrijig's
close proximity to Mount Buller makes it an ideal
base for skiers and snowboards in winter and for
fishing and water sports at Lake Eildon and the Delatite
River in summer.
Merrijig is famous for its beautiful
views of Mt Buller, Mountain Ash Forests and rolling
green farmland all of which was featured in the movie "The
Man from Snowy River". Experience the legend
of the Man From Snowy River and the high country
cattlemen with a horse ride to Craig's Hut.
Merrijig is a popular place for skiers
and snowboarders in winter who don't want to stay
in Mount Buller, but would like to cut down the travelling
between Mansfield and Mount Buller.
Relax beside an open fire after a strenuous
days skiing. If skiing is not your thing, enjoy a
walk or fishing in a mountain stream or a quiet romantic
weekend away from the hustle of the city.

summer activities make it the ideal location.
In March Merrijig hosts the Merrijig
Rodeo which attracts Australia's best rough riders
for a day of exciting competition against the stunning
back drop of the High Country. This event is a must
see to experience the local characters and cowboys
and to enjoy an old fashioned country hospitality
and a good time.
The climate can vary greatly in a single
day so make sure you carry warm clothing if venturing
out for the day.

Winter: Maximum 13.8° - Minimum 3.5°
Merrijig has several restaurants. However
if you need supplies from a supermarket Mansfield
is the closest. Mansfield is also the last petrol
station.
By Car:
Merrijig is easily accessible via the Hume Freeway taking only 2.5 hours from
Melbourne
By Coach:
Regular bus services run from Melbourne to Mansfield - travelling time 2.5
hours. During ski season (June to September) buses from Melbourne stop at
Merrijig.
