 About Marysville

Marysville is a picturesque village situated in a scenic landscape of mountains, forests, ferns, rivers and spectacular waterfalls. The sub alpine resort town of Marysville is the ideal destination for that break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Here you truly relax and de-stress.

In Marysville you can just sit back and relax, or take a stroll through the village shops, enjoy a coffee or Devonshire tea, or if you are seeking some out door activity try a spot of fishing, a round of golf, a horse ride or a hike along one of the numerous hiking trails.

Marysville started out as a camping place for gold miners on their way east to the Woods Point goldfield in the 1860's. The town site was surveyed in about 1863 by John Steavenson, and he named it after his wife Mary. After the railway arrived at Healesville in 1889 guesthouses were established in the area starting the tourism industry.
