About Maldon
Maldon is an amazing historic town in Victoria's goldfields, and has become a very popular tourist destination. This beautifully preserved gold mining town became classified by the National Trust in 1966.
Maldon is located about 140 km north west of Melbourne between Castlemaine and Bendigo.
The streets have flagstone paving and are lined with European trees, numerous stone buildings, old fashioned shop fronts, quaint cottages with attractive cottage gardens. Many of the stores have been converted into specialist stores including cafes, galleries and antiques shops to service visitors.
The historical buildings in Maldon include the railway station (1884), the Grand Hotel (1888), the old post office (1870) and several churches.

Anzac Hill
Anzac Hill offers visitors fabulous views of the Maldon township.
Maldon Historic Reserve
Maldon is surrounded by the Maldon Historic Reserve. Here you will have the opportunity to bush walk through a forest containing relics of the district's gold mining era.
Mount Tarrengower
Panoramic views of the surrounding region can be seen from the lookout tower on the peak of Mount Tarrengower. Mount Tarrengower was the centre of gold diggings in the area during the 1850s.
