About Goulburn Murray Waters
The Goulburn Murray Waters region is named for the famous Murray River which forms the border between Victoria and New South Wales, and the beautiful Goulburn River and Valley with its diverse agriculture.
The area was once almost a desert, until irrigation transformed the region into a rich and fertile agricultural area. This region is Victoria's largest wine producing area with more than two thirds of the total wine production originating here. The lovely warm Mediterranean type climate is ideal for growing a wide range to fruits.
The Muray River also is home to yabbies, crayfish and the famous Murray cod.
The Goulburn Murray Waters region has a rich riverboat / paddle steamer heritage. At one stage the Murray and Goulburn rivers were the only trading routes for the farmers of the region to transport their produce to Melbourne and other cities. Paddlesteamers would travel up and down these rivers constently transporting produce.

Echuca

Gunbower

Kerang

Swan Hill
Swan Hill is an ideal place to experience some of the most unspoilt and rugged sections of the Murray River as it passes through a section of state park land. One of the best ways to experience the river is on the 105 year old Paddle Steamer Pyap.

Yarrawonga
Yarrawonga is an inland aquatic paradise, located at the south western corner of Lake Mulwala. It is popular with water skiers, fishermen, yachtsmen, parasailers and power boat racers. The wonderful mediterranean climate means that there are plenty of sunny days to get outside and enjoy everything on offer, including the largest golf course (45 holes) in the Southern Hemisphere.
