 About Falls Creek

Falls Creek is one of Australia’s finest alpine resorts. Located 350 kilometres north-east of Melbourne.

Its magnificent terrain caters for all levels of skiers and snow boarders from beginners through to advanced downhill and cross-country skiers, snow boarders and telemark skiers.

Falls Creek is also known as an eco-friendly tourism hot spot offering a wide activities, attractions and events year round.

Falls Creek in Winter

Falls Creek is located above the snow line and is renowned for its European style village with true ski in ski out accommodation throughout the resort, and great skiing. Popular in winter for downhill and cross-country skiing and snowboarding, it has fantastic ski fields covering 96 ha suitable for all levels of skiing ability, Falls Creek has Victoria’s largest snow making facilities which enhances the natural snow fall even in marginal times, and many lodges offer a "snow guarantee".

The village sits in an alpine bowl and lifts provide access to both sides of the mountain. An excellent dedicated terrain park is built each year and often has the largest half pipe in Australia.

Falls Creek in Summer

In summer, hike the Bogong High Plains. Experience the alpine ash and snow gum forests and the rolling country of the High Plains and visit old cattle drovers huts. The Bogong Plains are a sea of colour in the summer months with a wide range of alpine flowers in full bloom.

The rivers and reservoirs provide excellent locations for fishing, boating and other water sports. Lake Dartmouth to the North East of Mount Bogong is one of the best freshwater fishing spots in Australia.

Getting There

Situated in North East Victoria, Falls Creek is in the heart of the Victorian Alps. It is easily accessible by coach, car or plane.

By Car
Falls Creek is an easy days drive from Sydney and 41/2 hours from Melbourne. The road to Falls Creek is safe and cleared of snow daily, which means that chains are rarely fitted. Carrying chains, however, is compulsory during winter and can be hired.

By Coach
Regular coach services operate from Melbourne

By Air
There are regular flights into Albury or Melbourne Airport, with connecting coaches direct to Falls Creek.
