 About Barnawartha

Barnawartha is a small, historic village, which is nestled in a scenic valley. Located just off the Hume Highway, the main highway between Chiltern and Wodonga in north-eastern Victoria, Barnawartha is the ideal stop over to break the long drive from Sydney to Melbourne.

Barnawartha was popular during the 1850's gold rush and many of the historic buildings in the village date back to this period. The village includes several historical buildings including the Star Hotel, general store, town hall and post office. The Sacred Heart church was established in 1899 and situated across the road from the town's golf course.
