Wynyard is located about 60 kilometres
west of Devonport on the banks of the Inglis River
and protected by an extremely beautiful headland

Places to Visit
Fossil Bluff is located west of Wynyard and is
known as the location where the oldest Australian
fossil of a marsupial was discovered. With spectacular
views and a small beach where the rocks at either
end are characterised by fossilised shells.
Table Cape Lookout
Rising about 190 metres above sea level, Table
Cape is a former volcano and offers spectacular
views inland and along the coast.
Table Cape Lighthouse
The lighthouse built in 1888, is part of a network
of navigational aids. The original light source
was an oil wick lamp, later converted to acetylene
and then to electricity in 1979. It has a range
of 19 nautical miles.
The Wynyard Tulip Festival, is a popular annual
event attracting tourists from far and wide. Most
of the tulip fields are on Table Cape.
Very close to Wynyard is Burnie
Airport which offers air access to Melbourne,
King Island and Devonport. Buses and car-hire
facilities are available at the airport.
Wynyard is also easily reached by
car from Launceston about 2 hours drive. Devonport,
is only 40 minutes by car and it is the terminus
of the Spirit of Tasmania ferry from mainland
Bus services are also available
to Wynyard from Hobart, Launceston and Devonport.
