Smithton lies on the banks of the
Duck River, in the area known as the Circular
Head. Some of Tasmania's most fertile dairy and
vegetable growing farmland can be found around
Duck River and Duck Bay offer some
wonderful fishing spots, whilst several local
forest reserves have bushwalks suitable for all
levels of fitness and ability.

Allendale Gardens is a privately owned botanical
garden with rainforest walk located on the road
to Edith Creek,
At Dismal Swamp, you can learn about the unique
habitat of the area's blackwood swamp.
Lacrum Dairy Farm
Located 6 km west of Smithton the Lacrum Dairy
Farm has milking demonstrations, cheese tastings
and afternoon tea during summer and autumn.
