About Stanley & North West

The North Western region of Tasmania is a land of contrasts with spectacular coastline, fertile fields carpeted in tulips, native bushland, ancient volcanic land forms such as "The Nut", and historic villages such as Stanley. On the far north-west tip the sea air which sweeps in on the winds of the Roaring Forties, has been tested as the world’s cleanest.

Tasmania's north-west is a prosperous farming district with rich volcanic soils, and offers several popular tourist destinations. As well as agriculture the north west processes timber products from local forests. The major cities in the region are Devonport and Burnie.
