About Lindisfarne
Lindisfarne is located on the eastern shore of the Derwent River about 6 kms from the Hobart CBD. Originally named Beltana the name was changed in 1892 to prevent confusion with the nearby suburb of Bellerive, renamed Lindisfarne in 1903, after both Lindisfarne House built in the 1820's and Lindisfarne, Northumberland, England.
Lindisfarne is a picturesque destination surrounded by hills and with views over the Derwent River to Hobart city centre and Mt Wellington. Lindisfarne village offers visitors a shopping centre including supermarket, newsagent, bakery, post office, R.S.L. club and Motor Yacht club. There is also a children's playground and barbeque areas situated on the bay shoreline where children can enjoy feeding the local ducks.
