About Barnes Bay
Barnes Bay runs from the Channel near Roberts Point, back around to the Channel near Woodcutters Point. It includes Simmonds Bay, Quarantine or Half Moon Bay and Shelter Cove.
The jetty at Barnes Bay and McCracken's Creek offer visitors ideal fishing spots and bird watchers will be delighted with the abundant bird life that inhabits this area. Or enjoy a picnic with the family.
Barnes Bay offers a safe anchorage and the Barnes Bay Regatta is held around the end of February or beginning of March each year.
During the early 19th century Barnes Bay was known for its firewood and then later for its apples and pears.
