Thredbo is a year round resort holiday
destination located in the Kosciuszko National Park
in the NSW Snowy Mountains.
Thredbo Village blends a unique mountain environment
with cultural events and activities to suit all ages.
Thredbo is the the closest resort to
Mount Kosciuszko,and is situated beside the Thredbo
River at an altitude of 1370m. The Kosciuszko Express
Chairlift operates year round with the top station
featuring Australia's highest restaurant, Eagles
Nest at 1939m. Thredbo also boasts the highest lifted
point in Australia 2039m
Seven Summit climbers will find Thredbo
the ideal take off point for the 6 km trek to the
summit of the highest, mountain on the Australian
continent, Mt Kosciuszko, 2228m.
Various events are held throughout
the year including mountain bike races, ski and snowboard
races, art exhibitions & workshops and music
festivals including a world music festival, blues
festival and jazz festival.
Thredbo has all the
advantages of a purpose built ski resort. The village,
first begun in the late 40s, has been sited with
the concept of keeping the winter sports activities
on the colder south facing slopes which hold the
snow longer and the residential area on the north
facing slopes to maximize the winter sun hours.
In winter there are endless thrills
to be had by skiers and snow boarders on the tree
clad slopes of Mt Crackenback. Ski touring fans and
snow shoe enthusiasts will revel in the breathtaking
scenery of the back country. Beginners and less experienced
skiers are also well, catered for on the gentler
slopes of Merrits and the dedicated beginner area
of Friday Flat.
Equipment hire for downhill skiing,
alpine touring, cross-country skiing, snowboarding
or snow-shoeing is available in the resort or from
a range of outlets and shops in the Snowy Mountains
region.
Thredbo operates a snow sports school
for all levels.

In Summer enjoy a wide range of activities
including the Kosciuszko Sunrise Tour: an early morning
hike to view the sun rise from the top of Australia.
Other activities golf, mountain biking, tennis,
fishing and bush walking.
Resort facilities encompass a range
of shops including a supermarket and various fashion
and gift stores. There are restaurants and bars available
to suit all tastes and budgets. The Thredbo Leisure
Centre has a 50m pool, sports hall, gym and squash
court.
Other facilities walking trails,
chairlifts, an alpine slide, mountain bike rentals,
golf course, tennis courts, as well as a cinema,
conference facilities, a bancomat, a medical centre,
and a chapel, massage centre, ATM and childcare.
There are shuttle buses in winter to
facilitate getting around the village and to link
the village centre with the day and over night parking
areas.
Thredbo village has a wide variety

and breakfast, catered ski lodged, ski chalets, apartments
and a youth hostel.
